Library Services
The Ditsobotla Local Municipality Libray System is made up of five libraries - with the main one located in Lichtenberg (currently undergoing renovations). The other four are in Coligny (that has been extended recently), Itsoseng Tlhabologang ( also recently renovated) and Boikhutso (where a new library is scheduled to open next year).
The Lichtenberg library is a modern public library that (uniquely) also houses an excellent art gallery which is one of the biggest in the country. The art gallery has a valuable collection of paintings by well known South African artists - paintings by Gregoir Boonzaaier, Irmin Henkel, Irma Stern, Louis Steyn, Walter Battiss, Dirk Meerkotter, F. Claerhout, Bettie Cilliers-Barnard, Johannes Meintjes and the sculptor Hennie Potgieter form part of the gallery's collection.
There are 18 staff members including the Head Librarian - Wilma van der Walt - and three qualified librarians. The North West Province helps with the acquisition of library collections as well as the library infrastructure.
The Library plans to offer access to the internet to its patrons soon.
